Hey guys,

i have to give this assignment to my teacher and he takes off points if
you spent a certain amount of time on the drawing (he's going to use
time command). what i need to do is take everything on my file (model
AND layouts) and put it on another file where my time (date created,
spent time, editing time ect.) is perfect. i know that my file will
count that as the "last time modified" but it won't matter.

So basically i am going to delete what is on the "good time" file and
replace it with everything from the other one. How do i do that?? In the
end it has to be the same drawing with the same layouts but with
different time/date settings.

Please don't tell me it's cheating i'm actually a good student, but this
counts for a huge part of my semester and i really need to get the best
grade i can!

THANKS

Hello, personally I would do a copy of your "perfect file" and :
Erase all the object space then insert your "perfect drawing" at the point :
0,0,0 and explode it ONE time only.
Then I would verify in the paper space if all is in the right place.

I'd do the drawing over from scratch and hope that the second time around you're faster.

this method would not preserve my layouts, which i spent a lot of hours doing

[/QUOTE]it's not just a matter of time spent, but date created! Besides, we're talking days of time here...

i think i read something about tweaking time in the .dxf file with wordpad. it sounds like the perfect solution but could someone who knows how, tell me exactly how? i would really appreciate it!!

Dude: What's that down in the right hand corner of your screen?  Why it's the date and time.  Think hard.  Where can one reset both the date and the time on a computer?  Put the X-Box away for a minute and think.

I just thought he was trying to "game" the system!

John, you posted the reply I was thinking from the start; do it all over from scratch within the time limits.
The assignment may have been unrealistic, as many academic exercises are, but it does have a purpose.  Photoshopping an answer won't satisfy it.
