CAD tip # 5129:
Question
A
Mainly because of the significantly enhanced scope of the Content Center (CC) in Inventor 11 (standards, catalogs, Mechsoft...) some Content Center operations may perform slower than in R10 or R9.
To accelerate performance of the Content Center in R11 immediately (before the release of SP2) we recommend to apply the following hints:
- install Service Pack 1 (or newer) for Inventor 11, resp. the hotfix DL7675819 (the problem is promised to be solved in SP2 - September 2006)
- detach (see Project) the unused standards/databases (e.g. JIS, ANSI) from your Content Center, or just copy a subset of frequently used standards to a separate custom database
- don't use CC files/folders on network (LAN/WAN)
- disable the AutoDrop function (ALT-key)
- don't use filters ("DIN-only" etc.)
- the first insertion of a given part may be slower than subsequent ones (images and XML are cached)
- upgrade the MSDE SQL database to a newer MS SQL Express 2005 (on DVD: \bin\acadfeui\UpgradeSQL2005\), or to the full SQL server
- delete (or rename) the file ContentCenterSettings.xml from the folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\USER\Application Data\Autodesk\Autodesk Inventor 11\ContentCenter\Settings\
- have enough free RAM and CPU power on the computer with Inventor and CC
- even in R11 you can configure the Content Center from Release 10 (add-on module) ...
