Q - question

Export of 3D CAD models to Google Earth.

A - answer Most Autodesk's design applications can directly publish KML and KMZ files for viewing inside maps in Google Earth.

Autodesk Revit users with Subscription can download the plugin "Globe Link" from their Subscription Center. This plugin adds export and import of data to/from GE. Then you can start export of your BIM project 3D model to the KML/KMZ format with the ribbon Add-Ins > Globe Link > Export.

Corridors from AutoCAD Civil 3D can be exported to Google Earth with the command EXPORTGOOGLEEARTH (resp. EXPORTKML).

In plain AutoCAD and in other applications of the AutoCAD family you can export geometry of the model (drawing) to KML/KMZ with the utility Plex.Earth. It contains also other useful functions for direct interaction between AutoCAD and Google Earth.

There are also more (and more detailed) options for exporting KML data in other tools of the Autodesk Design Suite packages - e.g. in 3ds Max Design, in Navisworks (see N > Export > Google Earth), or in separate add-on utilities for AutoCAD (mostly limited to 2D objects).
